Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation is the Darkest Hour’s third full-length studio album. This ablum along with the band’s future work, displays more melodic death metal influences than their previous albums. Notably, the album contained political lyrics, with several songs criticizing American militarism post-September 11. Oringianlly released in May of 2003 HIdden Hands of a Sadist Nation was recored at Studio Fredman in Goteborg, Sweden (Jan. 2003) and was produced by Fredick Nordstrom and features art by Shelby Cinca. It was on this release that Darkest Hour scored the coveted Ozzfest and in 2004 was thrust into the popular music circut as one of the rising stars in metal.

On Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation guitarist Kris Norris and bassist Paul Burnette replace Fred Ziomek and Billups allen. It features guest appearences by Tomas Lindberg (At the Gates), Anders Bjorler (The Haunted, At the Gates), Peter Wichers (Soilwork), and Marcus Sunesson (The Crown). A delux version was released in conjunction with 2004′s Ozzfest that featurs a re-recorded/re-mixed version of “For the Soul of the Savior” as well as mini doumentery DVD. It is on this record that Darkest Hour filmed thier first music video and “The Sadist Nation” music video was released in conjuction with promotion of the record.

DVD

After its release, Victory Records reissued Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation with a bonus DVD. It includes an alternate music video to “The Sadist Nation,” footage from both recording and from their past tours, as well as a bonus video with tour manager Tito Picon.
