Drummer Travis Orbin joins Darkest Hour, work continues on new album.

It is with extreme excitement for the days ahead that Washington D.C. Melodic Death Metal veterans DARKEST HOUR proudly announce the addition of drummer Travis Orbin. Travis brings his unique perspective and talents to the table as a seasoned touring musician (Periphery, Sky Eats Airplane) and as a noted session drummer.

“The chemistry has developed into something special, unique, and new. It’s hard to deny this feeling when you’ve been releasing albums for as long as we have and we couldn’t be more ready to unleash this new sound of ours on your senses,” says guitarist Mike Schleibaum.

Formed in 1995, DARKEST HOUR have released seven full length albums including the highly acclaimed: The Human Romance (2011), Undoing Ruin (2005), and Deliver Us (2007). With a long history of successful releases and years of worldwide touring DARKEST HOUR are ready unveil this new metamorphosis.

Travis explains, “I’ve been jamming and writing the new record with the guys for over a year. It’s been especially rewarding in that everything was composed in a room together, a wholly organic process that I haven’t experienced in a long while. I’m excited about the tunes, signing on as a full-time member, and can’t wait to hit the road!”

Singer John Henry adds, “This is a very exciting time in the history of the band. Travis is hands down one of the best drummers I have ever seen, and is bringing to the table an incredible and inspiring amount of talent and musical ability. This marks the beginning of a new era for DARKEST HOUR, one you will have to hear and see to believe!”

Travis has joined the band in the writing process for their much-anticipated eighth studio full-length noting positive, natural progression and renewed energy. DARKEST HOUR’S new album is slated for a late 2013 release.

We couldn’t be more thankful to all the great people who helped make the past year and a half an amazing time! Since we released the Human Romance we’ve rocked all over the world and made so many new friends. Thanks to Mike Mowery – Outerloop Management, Ash Avildsen – The Pantheon Agency, Marco Walzel – Avacado Booking, Soundwave Touring, Vernon Go – Pulp Magazine, Machine Head, Devil Driver, Bring Me The Horizon, Everyone on Summer Slaughter 2011, Born of Osiris, all our new friends in Japan, Black Dahlia Murder, Suicide Silence, Metaltown Sweden, Hellfest France, Wacken Open Air, Brutal Assault, Ieper Fest, Norma Jean, Converge, Summer Breeze Fest, Area 4 Fest, Highfield Fest, and of course you all for coming out to all the shows, rocking your ass’s off, circle pitting, and jamming the tunes at your BBQ’s and mosh parties! Oh, and most of all for your continued support. 2011 – 2012 were big years for us and we can’t do much but look back in awe. We’re going to turn our focus on completing our next metal opus for you all, while we might pop up on a tour or two hear or there make no mistake about it, we are focused on putting out the most intense, extreme, melodic, and mind blowing darkest hour record to date. It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the official departure of long time friend and bassist, Paul Burnette. Paul’s presence on the stage, in the jam room, and everywhere in between will be missed. He has helped us to both conquer the world and develop the sound of the band. For that we’ll be eternally grateful.

Although Paul will continue with the new powerhouse, Iron Reagan, his musical footprint will remain with us forever. We love you, dude!

As many of you who have seen us live know, Aaron Deal (ex Salome mastermind) has been doing an amazing job filling in these past few tours. He’s rocked Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America with us and it’s safe to say, he’s a true bro. We couldn’t ask for a more badass addition to the dudes. Of all this craziness Aaron state’s:
